1. Tenaciousness is a competency.
There are a few behaviors, new and existing, that I utilized to keep up with the requirements of this course. The primary new behavior I have used is keeping up with the online lectures this semester. Every Monday and Wednesday at 1:55, I would treat these times like "class times" and watch the online lectures on my laptop. If I couldn't watch the lectures that day due to a meeting, I would make an effort to watch them later that afternoon or the next day. There was never a time I got behind in class material. I also used existing behaviors, like putting due dates into a paper planner and syncing the Canvas calendar for this class to my phone's calendar.
2. Tenaciousness is also about attitude.
In reviewing the definition provided for "tenacious," it made me reflect on my experiences not just in this course, but also throughout my educational career. I always feel like I've had a tenacious attitude. However, there was one time I felt like "giving up" this semester when I was working on one of my assignments for this class. I was working in Blogger and was almost finished with my assignment. When I went to insert a link into my assignment, I suddenly saw that all of my hard work was gone. I instantly panicked and researched the problem I was encountering. It turned out that Blogger does not have a version history of posts, so I lost not only my assignment but also the hard work I put in all week. While I felt upset and frustrated, I persevered. I stayed up until almost midnight and re-wrote my post, and I ended up submitting my assignment on time. Now, I always press "save" every 30 seconds when I am working in Blogger.
3. Three tips.
- Make sure you regularly watch the lectures and take the cupcakes as soon as early as you can.
- Get assignments done early so that you are not overwhelmed on Friday mornings when they are due.
- Use a paper planner! It will help you stay organized with the multiple deadlines for this class (part A/blog assignment due Friday at noon, part B/declare due Friday at noon, part C/two peer reviews due Monday at noon)
Hi Adriana!
ReplyDeleteIt's wild to think that we reaching closer and closer to the finish line for this semester. I'm sorry to hear about the whole blogger situation! I always do my work on a google document and then paste my work onto blogger once I'm completely done. That might be something to check out next time. Staying ahead is my biggest advice too! Keep up the great work!!!
Hey Adriana,
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you posted a picture of your bracelet as the image for the blog post, very fitting for the content. I cannot believe the semester is already halfway over and we are currently on spring-break. I really liked all three of the tips you posted and find them to be very helpful for this course but also for any other. Lastly, I completely agree with you on tenacity and its importance in life. Overall, great post.
Hey Adriana,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Your three tips are very similar to mine as well. Staying on top of the lectures is crucial. Because they are so lengthy, letting them pile up is not the best idea and of course it is easier to just not watch them; but without watching the lectures you most likely wont pass the cupcakes. Paper planners are also key. I stand by my planner till the day I die. It has saved me from not procrastinating and making sure i turn everything in on time.
Hey Adriana,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your picture that you included in your post! It really set the tone for your blog post. I agree with your list of tips. I think that making specific designated time for this class at a certain time can be very helpful, especially in an online class. Definitely not waiting until Friday morning for the cupcakes is a good one! Watching the lectures for them can be very time consuming and it is best to continuously keep up.
